support groups
female support group
This is an opportunity to meet up with other women living with cancer. “The Support Group has helped me to meet other women in the same situation as myself. We were able to chat about our circumstances and get support from each other.”
Helping to connect with other women who have been through a similar diagnosis can be helpful and supportive. The group is a chance to talk openly and safely about your fears, worries and concerns with other women facing a cancer diagnosis.

bereavement support group
The loss of a loved one is life’s most stressful event and can cause major emotional crisis.
After the death of someone you love and cherish, you will experience a whole range of emotions, even when the death is expected. There is no right or wrong way to grieve – but there are positive and healthy ways to cope with your loss. Your feelings are normal and are very common reactions when someone close passes away.

Men's Den
Cancer Lifeline are delighted to announce our new “MEN’S DEN” project, funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, People and Communities Programme.
The project will provide a range of male only activities to support males affected by cancer in North Belfast. This can be male cancer patients or males who are supporting a loved one through cancer. Gordon and Tommy from the volunteer management committee are taking the lead in bringing the men together. They have got off to a flying start with a Belfast Walking Tour and a visit to the Men’s Shed project at Alexandra Park Avenue.
The newly refurbished “Men’s Den” Cabin is a male-friendly space that has been set up as part of the project. A safe space where men can feel more comfortable to engage, chat and share. Going forward, some of the planned activities will include-
- “Breakfast Bites.” Breakfast mornings with taster activities
- “Mug meet up.” Drop in mornings for a cuppa and a chat .
- Access to one to one support e.g. Counselling and Complementary Therapies
- Practical and interactive Male wellbeing/information days.
So, if you want a good reason to get out of the house, have a laugh and meet up with other men facing the impact of cancer in their lives, please come along. The group currently meets on a Wednesday morning. See page 5 for full details on activities planned over the next six months.
